Google Glasses, Web Design Possibilities

Just yesterday Google unveiled a preview of their upcoming product at the Google I/O Conference, Project Glass. We’ve seen examples of how the Google glasses would work, and Google has been really keen on showing how dynamic and fun it is to share your experience with your friends in first person. What better way is there to demonstrate this than SKYDIVING out of a blimp.
You’ve seen some really compelling demos here, they were slick, they were robust. This is going to be nothing like that.Sergey Brin, Co-Founder.

Watch the video below to see the Google Glasses in action (warning, it’s pretty epic).

When I watched this video I have to admit that I was very excited, I even began to applause as the sky divers jumped out into what could have been their impending doom. Despite the fact that anything could have gone wrong, I felt like I was taking part in the entire experience. I then thought to myself, “this could open a lot of opportunities for London web design agencies“.

Google Glasses for London Web Agencies to Share

The Google Glasses uses the Hangouts from Google+ in first person. This way people can see exactly what their friend is seeing. Skydiving is great and all, but let’s remember that most of us will probably not even consider that. A London digital agency doesn’t have to jump out of an aircraft just to get a bunch of views (although that would be awesome!), it would make more sense to connect to your friends by sharing your experiences as a designer in your office. In a world where everyone uses the glasses, here are a few ideas that would help you connect to your clients.

Watch Us Work

Wouldn’t it be great for people to see how you work? Normally clients don’t get to see what goes on during a project, but having a hangout that shows the design process would give the extra bit of confidence that you work in a professional manner. If you’re good at what you do, then why not showcase it with the Google Glasses?

Google Glasses Team Discussions

Having an interesting discussion in the office? Share it! We all know that users are more likely to react to video content than text, so why not record your conversations to show that you are an expert in your field, and to give people some helpful information (assuming you can store videos with the glasses).

Tutorials / How to Videos

You always have to train a client if you give them any type of CMS. This involves travel which takes up a lot of time. Why not stream a training video directly from the Google glasses? This way a client can see exactly what they are supposed to be doing, step by step, from the comfort of their own room.

Social Events / Conferences

Most agencies have ice-breaking activities to increase comfort between co-workers. A London marketing agency would often go to events in the area to gather information on the latest practices. Your followers could share your experience, whether you’re going karting or trying out a new product at a press conference.

We have to keep in mind that Google intends to break down the barriers by sharing the perspective of a user. If this product kicks off successfully, it could mean that clients and prospects can finally see put a human face to a brand using the Google Glasses.
