Stella McCartney Unveils the Team GB Olympic Kit

The kit for team Great Britain has been released and is getting positive feedback online. The kits have been designed by none other than Stella McCartney, and as far as the Twitterverse is concerned, the design is great!

It’s great to know that deep thought has gone into what the people representing our nation will be wearing, and in my opinion, it’s the only good design to come out of the 2012 Olympics.

We’ve put up with years of lame ideas from so called experts in the creative design industry, so whenever a design is about to be “unveiled” we are all ready to see something that looks terrible and lame. Disagree? Let me refresh your memory a bit.

2012 Olympics Logo

This was the first unveiling of the 2012 Olympic brand. It was a moment where everyone got to see how Great Britain will be represented in the years coming up to the Olympics. The 2012 Olympic logo has been the source of ridicule and jokes since it’s unveiling, and many of the feedback towards it have been out of anger and disappointment. Despite this, we still see this logo on every poster and merchandise, and there’s nothing we can do about it.

2012 Olympic Mascots

When these guys were unveiled, I struggled to understand the reasoning behind them. What do a couple of one eyed alien creatures have to do with Britain? They have more of a resemblance to the all seeing eye than the nation they represent. Some people thought the mascots (named Wenock and Mandeville) were a spark of genius, but overall till this day there is still confusion as to why and what exactly they are.

2012 Olympic Torch

The torch has always been the icon of the Olympics. It is a symbol that is carried by a selection of handpicked individuals, and is seen as a great honor. The design isn’t too bad, and it was designed in a way to keep the flame burning while it’s being carried, but when it was unveiled it was still the source of light entertainment and jokes. Many people were even saying it resembled other everyday items such as; a baseball bat or a cheese grater.
