Samsung Galaxy S3 Ads Attack Apple iPhone 5
It hasn’t been long since the Apple iPhone 5 was unveiled to the general public, but attacks have already begun on the update to the popular mobile phone. The competitor to iPhone 5 is the Samsung Galaxy S3, and Samsung have released ads that are directly targeted at their rivals.
This all comes after Samsung lost a case with Apple regarding the patents of design and software. In the end the South-Korean company ended up having to pay £664 million in damages. No one will be happy about this, and Samsung is definitely no exception. Not the type of people to turn the other cheek, they’ve continued to rage war against Apple.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Ads – A Spiteful Strategy, but we love it!
We can learn a lot from the current marketing campaigns of the Samsung Galaxy S3. What they are showing is that you can turn weaknesses into a strength. There was a rumour that Samsung paid the £664 million to Apple by sending over 30 trucks full of 5-cent coins. Many people are debunking this story, but if it’s true it’s probably the most spiteful/hilarious legal method of making a payment. There’s no telling who started this rumour, but it kept Samsung as the topic on peoples lips for a while.
Those of you who follow technology will have seen the specs for the new iPhone 5 (read our previous article to get more familiar). The reveal brought about some scepticism from some enthusiasts, but there are a lot of people that just don’t get it (what’s with the new connector?!). Samsung isn’t one to pass up an opportunity, so in response to the commotion, they released some hilarious ads for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
The first ad is a poster which compares the specs of the iPhone 5 with the Samsung Galaxy S3. The slogan is “It Doesn’t Take a Genius”, and it makes it look like the S3 is more powerful and worthy of your money. The poster has been circulated around social networks, giving everyone a bit of a chuckle. Despite this, Samsung isn’t exactly done yet.
The latest attack on Apple is a trailer for the S3. Even though it’s incredibly evil, it’s a terrific advert. Without mentioning Apple or the iPhone 5, the ad blatantly belittles all of the new features on the iPhone 5. This not only makes fun of the phone, but also certain fans of Apple who always seem to make excuses for the brand, camping for hours to get their hands on the latest product. The ad presents the Samsung Galaxy S3 as the simpler, better alternative, using nothing but the power of humor. The icing on the cake however, is the message that the iPhone is for the older folk, immediately making it uncool. How is this done? Well, we’ll let you figure that out!
