Barack Obama unleashes his 2012 viral video

During the previous US presidential election we saw the important role that social media can play in shifting the balance of power between thought leaders and, all in all, the future of a nation. Now with the current elections coming up, it’s no wonder why the competing sides are trying to dominate each other virally.

Earlier this week, Barack Obama released his latest bid to tip the scales online. It’s not your normal Presidential message of shaking hands and kissing babies on the forehead however. It is a 16 minute video titled “The Road We’ve Traveled”, and it serves as a reminder of the difficult choices that have been made to bring the United States back on track, and improve the quality of living for those that are missing out.

I’m not an American citizen, I’m just a web designer in London communicating my thoughts on a blog, but I have to appreciate the way the video communicates to viewers globally. With the use of testimonials from the people involved, and creating a recollection of past events that we’ve all seen broadcasted on mainstream media, it’s no surprise that the viral video has already received over 110 000 views in the first 2 days of it’s release.
