JBi’s first digital love!

It’s fair to say that here at JBi we’re more than just your normal London web design agency, we like to think that we add that little bit of quirk and fun to all the work we do. And since it’s the season of #LOVEdigital, we thought we’d share of our first loves and heartbreaks with you, all digital of course.

And in case you’re wondering why David, Raj and Harmeet haven’t shown their lovely faces, well, let’s say just they’re a little bit camera shy.

David

What was your first digital love?
My Atari computer ! Please don’t use that as it shows my age!! (Too late we already have!)

How old were you?
Err, 10 years oldish er I think

Did it break your heart or did you cheat? (eg: did you leave Nokia for a Samsung?)
No but it took hours of my life away that I will never get back as I got introduced to early versions of football manager

Are you still together?
Sadly the Atari is no longer with us – RIP

What was your first digital love?
My first mobile phone, Nokia ‘Changing Faces’

How old were you?
Aged 15

Did it break your heart or did you cheat? (eg: did you leave Nokia for a Samsung?)
She broke my heart, over countless hours on the phone & playing the addictive ‘snakes’ game – I woke-up one fine morning only to know that her battery had failed. I remember calling 123, but the phonemechnics couldn’t revive her….

Are you still together?
Only in my faint memoirs!

What was your first digital love?
My Alcatel one touch easy (or more commonly known as a ‘brick’ phone)

How old were you?
About 14

Did it break your heart or did you cheat? (eg: did you leave Nokia for a Samsung?)
I cheated, I upgraded to the latest, much cooler technology of the time, the flip phone

Are you still together?
No, I was a ruthless owner and after many years together (including a couple of facelifts with nail polish) I got rid of her

My dad’s old Canon video recorder

How old were you?
I think I was 9

Did it break your heart or did you cheat? (eg: did you leave Nokia for a Samsung?)
Well being the heartthrob that I am, I upgraded to a better model (a Nikon) so yes, technically I cheated (that disclosure is no reflection on me as a human being).

Are you still together?
Well, they say you never forget your first love, so there will be always be a special place in my heart for my first Canon love.

What was your first digital love?
This old grey polaroid camera

How old were you?
Probably 4, I was amazed that my necklace took pictures.

I think I got mud into the lens so technically I broke it’s heart.

Are you still together?
I look at it and I remember the good old days, so yes, in a way we will always be together.

What was your first digital love?
My Casio Digital Watch, Just like the one Super Human Samurai Kid (Sam) had. The dial size was big so of course I used to flaunt it

How old were you?
Around 8

Did it break your heart or did you cheat? (eg: did you leave Nokia for a Samsung?)
Actually broke it while doing a special fight stunt for a friend

Are you still together?
Not anymore, I tried everything from trying to fix it to praying and crying for days, but it was all in vain, my Casio Digital Watch died in battle!

As you’ve gathered by now, some of the team are still pretty emotional about their first digital loves but despite that it’s got us thinking that we’ve come so far with some of these digital beauties, what do we love now?
