Highlights from E3 2017

In a digital agency it will come as no surprise that we have a few video game enthusiasts. This year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3, is taking place in Los Angeles and our favourite console and video game companies are announcing future titles and updates. Here’re the highlights for us.

Microsoft announces the Xbox One X

Microsoft has given us plenty of information over the past few months about their upcoming pro Xbox One, but the company finally announced the release date and pricing of the device at E3. Previously known as Project Scorpio, the Xbox One X boasts 6 teraflops of graphical power, almost 2 more teraflops than the similar Playstation 4 Pro. The console will arrive just in time for the holiday season on November 7th worldwide for a cool $499 or £499, £100 more than the PS4 Pro.

The Xbox One X claims the title of the most powerful game console available, but with a huge price and few games supporting the enhanced graphic capabilities, will its sales match its power? We’ll find out later this year.

Age of Empires kind of returns

Microsoft’s popular civilisation simulator PC game is returning in the form of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, this edition isn’t a brand new entry into the franchise, rather a remastering of the original, 20-year-old game. The Definitive Edition will pack many improvements to gameplay and AI, sound upgrades and 4K graphics.

The Last Night

This one isn’t a major title announcement but we’ve fallen in love with the graphics of this Xbox One and PC exclusive. The Last Night is a side scrolling game set in a Bladerunner-like future and that’s about all we know so far but we’re sold. Check out the video below to admire the beautiful art style.

PlayStation is playing with phone-controlled games

PlayLink will allow multiple players to interact with and control some PlayStation 4 games using their smartphones. The titles that will support this new feature include Hidden AgendaThat’s You, Frantics, SingStar Celebration and Knowledge is Power.
