Google Doodle tests your hurdling skills

Just this Sunday, a vast majority of the world witnessed the much anticipated 100m race featuring Usain Bolt. During the London 2012 Olympics Google has been religiously updating it’s Google Doodle with new illustrations every day. Not one to miss out on an opportunity, they have released a mini-game which tests you as a hurdler. This is all in preparation for the upcoming 100m hurdles.

Google Doodle Hurdle Game

The game is pretty simple (but quite hard!). All you have to do is click on the “play” icon, and you’ll begin playing the game. Instructions will appear on the screen showing how to play. The game involves pressing the left and right buttons alternatively to make the hurdler run. When you see a hurdle, the spacebar button makes him jump. You have to get the timing right and build up enough speed, otherwise you’ll end up missing your jump.

At the end of the game, the player is rewarded with a top speed, which they can share with their Google+ circles. Below is our record (we’re not very good at this game!).

It makes make wonder, why didn’t they use this type of Google Doodle during the 100m dash? Wouldn’t it have been better to feed off the anticipation of that event instead?

This is not the first time that Google Doodle has featured a game, as they have included games such as PacMan in the past.
