You can upload your header photo, which appears above your Tweets, to express yourself instantly, anywhere.” Posted by Sachin Agarwal on the Twitter Blog.

Twitter header image – a familiar design update

The ability to customise your Twitter page by adding a header is reminiscent of the cover image on Facebook, or the profile banner on Google+. These functions let users brand their profile pages and make them more inviting for visitors, and Twitter is the latest social network to jump on the bandwagon.

The header image can be uploaded from the account settings, in the design section. You are given the choice to take a photograph right then and there, or upload a previously designed image no bigger than 1252 x 626 pixels (max file size is 5MB). The image can then be enlarged, shrunk, or moved to fit the frame provided. In addition to this Twitter has now added a “Me” button to the navigation, letting users view their profile much easier. This is great news, because it allow companies to have a deeper connection with the followers on Twitter.
