Steve Jobs announces iPhone at Macworld

iPhone turns 10

Ten years earlier, Steve Jobs introduced us to a “revolutionary” device on stage at Macworld. Today, Apple has reached a milestone anniversary with the iPhone, which was released ten years ago in 2007.

Whether you’re an iPhone or Android user, you cannot deny the fact the iPhone has changed not only how we use phones but how we connect with people and with the world around us. Sure, the iPhone hasn’t done this solely, but the device started the smartphone revolution and it remains a market leader today.

In the past 10 years, we have seen twelve different models of the popular device. From the colourful iPhone 5c to ‘antennagate’ and ‘bendgate’, the journey has been full of highs and lows.

Over half the JBi team currently use an iPhone and even more have owned an iPhone in the past. Here’re their stories of their first iPhones…

Andrew

“My first iPhone was the 4s, before the iPhone I had tried Android and Windows Phone and disliked both, I’ve never looked back.”

Rhys

“I was given a hand-me-down iPhone 4.”

Evelyn

“I got a 4s on contract, which was my first iPhone. It was first thing I got when I got paid from my first ever job, I couldn’t afford to buy it!”

James

“The first iPhone I bought was the 3GS in my last year of university. It had many educational purposes but was mainly used to play online poker.”

Grace

“My first iPhone was the 3GS. I got it when I was in my first year at uni. I remember my dorm-mates gathering round (not sure why, as it wasn’t the first ever iPhone!) and they kept playing with it, saying “OMG you can access the internet so easily! Take a picture…” Then everyone else got an iPhone so it felt less special.”

Grace now uses Android now.

What’s in store for the iPhone in the next 10 years? We’ll hear more about the rumoured iPhone 8 this year and AR technology is taking off, we’re excited to see how that could affect apps and web design.
