Adobe unveils Photoshop CS6 Beta

The previous release of Adobe Photoshop was almost two years ago, and it feels like just yesterday that I was going through all the amazing features. I remember saying to a colleague of mine, “I seriously don’t know how they’re going to top this”, and now two years from that day, we’re looking at Adobe Photoshop CS6.

Adobe has really taken the comments of it’s users into account this time around. They’ve made both major and minor changes to the functions of the software, and this has really made a difference to the user experience. One huge change which I appreciate in this update is the redesigned UI. The previous Adobe Photoshop was a pain to use in terms of spacing. I found myself constantly having to mess around with the work space just so that I can see my design, and the tools often got in the way. Photoshop CS6 has had a makeover that is darker and more spacious, similar to the UI of Adobe After Effects. The dark background makes the canvas stand out more, but if the user doesn’t like this he/she can make adjustments based on their own tastes.

The Photoshop CS6 Beta has 65 new features to get stuck into, and is available as a free download from until it goes on sale for around £440 as a standalone version, and about £630 for the extended product. I myself look forward to how it will help us work more efficiently.
